Container Gardening Flower Pictures: Petunia = A, Celosia = B, Salvia = C, Canna = D, Elephant Ears = E
Enclose a garden room by creating a border with annuals, perennials and shrubs.
As a focal point, surrounded by a short hedge of Boxwood, several canna plants attract the eye.
Canna grows in full sun. They produce flowers that look almost tropical. The bronze-colored leaves of several varieties are eye-catching, even when not in bloom.
There are two containers placed on both sides of the hedge with Petunias, Black Sweet Potato Vine, Cordyline and a few other annuals.
Annuals such as petunia, celosia and salvia farinacea make an impact when planted in mass.
They are all sun-loving annuals. Celosia even enjoys hotter temperatures provided it is watered consistently.
Elephant ears (Colocasia) adds another tropical touch to this border. They are grown from tubers in well-drained, moist soil, and require sun and warmth to thrive.
The tubers need to be dug out if temperatures drop below freezing, and they must be stored in a cool, dry place until the next growing season, just like canna tubers.
