My Experience With the Topsy Turvy

If you watch any amount of television you have probably seen the ads for the Topsy Turvy tomato planter. This is a device that you hang from something like your patio. There is also a version that comes with a stand.
The obvious benefits are that you don’t have to dig up your yard, or find some space in the yard. Also it is ideal for someone in an apartment or rented house where you can’t alter the ground. It also will keep the tomatoes from critters. The manufacturer claims tomatoes will grow better and faster when you use it.
I decided to try it out. It is a little cumbersome to set up there is a specific way to put the tomato in it and it becomes fairly heavy when you add the potting soil. I had heard that sometimes the topsy turvy will fall from it’s location so I was careful to be sure it was fastened correctly and made sure there was no important item it could fall on.
So I went ahead and started growing tomatos. Overall I found the experience to be good. It did produce good fruit much easier than planting on the ground. The only two drawbacks during this process was that it is a little harder to water than you might thing. Also the side pointing to the sun grow the plant much faster so I had to occasionally rotate the plants.
I plan on using the Topsy Turvy again and would not hesitate to recommend it to you.
