Alyssum are sweet and simple annuals you can start from seed or buy as bedding plants.
Sweet, because their delicate scent that lingers in the air as you pass by. Simple because they are tolerant of dry conditions; requiring water only once or twice a week.
Alyssum come in white, pink, lavender, red and gold. Growing 6-9 inches tall, their delicate blooms will succumb to the first frost.
Ageratum is an old stand-by when it comes to annuals. In beds or containers, ageratum is hardy, provides a steady show of color that lasts until the first hard frost.
Depending on the variety, ageratum can be 6-12 inches tall. The small, fuzzy flowers resemble miniature puffballs.
Most ageratum is blue or periwinkle in color-one of the only truly blue flowers. This easy-to-grow annual is a must for container gardening.
