A large, heavy, strong-looking container and just one type of blooming plant: English daisies in white, pink and red.

English daisy (Bellis Perennis) is a herbaceous perennial, often treated as an annual in warmer zones or as a biennial in cooler areas.

It doesn't do well in the heat of the summer, so if you choose to plant it, be aware that it might need to be replaced as the gardening season progresses.

They grow best in sun to part shade, rich potting mix and require consistent moisture. They are not prone to insect problems or diseases.

English daisies are readily available in nurseries, but they are easy to start from seed. Just remember, they act as biennial in most areas, so if you plant seeds in early spring, the plants won't bloom till next year.

They form low rosettes of leaves and the flowers only reach up to six inches in height. The blooms are dainty, round, up to two inches in diameter with a bright yellow eye in the center.Want more?
