If you have hesitated to grow full-size rosebushes in containers, why not try a miniature variety? Miniature roses are as showy as their full-grown counterparts.
They often bloom non-stop from late spring to fall.
Miniature roses prefer a rich potting mix to which some compost or peat moss has been added. They require constant moisture, so water frequently, but insure good drainage to avoid root rot.
They can be grown in full sun to partial shade (at least six hours of sunlight for optimal bloom). Remove spent flowers and prune as needed to maintain their shape.
Miniature roses are affected by the same problems as larger rose types. Insure good air circulation between the containers to avoid problems, and spray for insects and viral diseases as needed.
Regal Geraniums are spring bloomers that are available in a large array of colors, single and bi-colors, ranging from white to deepest maroon.
Regal Geranium is a tender perennial, so they are often treated as an annual. If you love your geranium, take cuttings to propagate.
They perform better in full sun, but appreciate some shade during hot days. Keep them watered, but make sure the container has good drainage to avoid root or stem rot. They are fairly disease- and pest-free.Want more? Use the arrows below to see more lovely container garden designs, all with identified plants and care advice.
