Container Flower Gardening Ideas: Purple Fountain Grass, Red Verbena, Blue Petunias, Peter's Golden Carpet

This is such a beautiful arrangement! It's certainly not for people who prefer understated colors, because there's a lot going on between the different flower hues.

Begin with the foundation of Purple Fountain Grass, which comes in a variety of types, but we prefer the ones without the cattails.

Cattails just add one more complication to an already busy display.

While you can also get them in blue, Red Verbena works best in this display. The whole point is the clash of colors, a riot! Very pretty, Verbena will cover the ground in your container with flowers for you.

One of our favorite blues, Blue Petunias are super-dense in color, and really special in this display. While they are available in two-tone blue and white and almost violet, we prefer the Navy or deep, rich blue versions.

Finally, Peter's Golden Carpet (Sedum), a stunning yellow explosion that really brings the display to life. Hundreds of tiny star-shaped egg yolk yellow blooms. Wow!
